There are no safe dosages of steroids according to the Australian Drug Foundation. This is because there are no safe and practical ways to monitor the use of steroids without frequent blood tests that are too complicated to be performed in one’s home. In addition, long-term side affects of steroids are still unknown and so it is uncertain what even a small amount of steroids may cause later on in life. Though steroids have been successfully used in medical treatments, they have only been used when other alternatives have failed. In essence, steroids are a “last-resort” for many health problems. Though they have not been proven to be the cause of death yet, it is clear that steroids have perhaps exacerbated the condition of the deceased to a significant degree that using steroids for non-medical purposes is almost unanimously discouraged by all medical organizations.
